Stack AV has announced the launch of its autonomous trucking business, which is developing AI-powered technology to assist with its operations.

It is being backed by SoftBank Group Corporation.

The firm is being led by Bryan Salesky, Brett Browning and Peter Rander, who were in charge of Argo AI, an AV technology firm startup that was founded in 2016 and was backed by Ford and VW.

Argo AI was shut down last year, after the two automakers withdrew their support. They had invested a combined $3.6 million, Bloomberg reports.

Bryan Salesky, founder and CEO of Stack AV said: “As consumer consumption patterns evolve, businesses increasingly need AI-driven, intelligent, and reliable supply chains.”

Kentaro Matsui, Head of the New Business Office at SoftBank Group and Managing Partner at SoftBank Investment Advisers added that: “The next decade will be defined by AI, where all social systems will be linked by this technology to solve the most complex societal issues.”
