Denso has developed a cabin air conditioning unit for large trucks, named Everycool, which can be used when a truck’s engine is not running.

Denso said, compared to current systems in Japan, it reduces power consumption by 57% and can be powered using the standard vehicle battery.

Everycool integrates the fan, enabling a single unit to perform the entire heat exchange compared to conventional systems which incorporate separate indoor and outdoor fans.

It uses a small electric compressor.

The new system is 30% smaller and 63% lighter than conventional a/c systems.

The smaller size means there is no obstruction of the rear window, making it suitable for a range of vehicle types, including medium size trucks and tractor trailers.

It can be installed in both new and existing vehicles and will be available for purchase for certain large trucks in Japan from December.
